Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is preparing to re-establish diplomatic ties with Syria, following the recent overthrow of the Assad regime. This move comes as part of Ukraine's strategy to expand its list of reliable partners and enhance cooperation in international organizations. Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's commitment to supporting efforts to stabilize Syria, mentioning the launch of the 'Grain from Ukraine' humanitarian program, which has already sent 500 metric tons of wheat flour to Syria. Additionally, Ukraine plans to double its agricultural exports to Lebanon, aiming to increase trade from $400 million. The Ukrainian delegation, including Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Agriculture Minister Vitaliy Koval, visited Syria to discuss these initiatives and meet with the new Syrian leadership.
