President Donald Trump announced that he will sign pardons tonight to release individuals detained in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot, referring to them as "J6 hostages." Speaking at Capital One Arena, Trump stated, "Tonight, I'm going to be signing pardons on the J6 hostages to get them out. As soon as I leave, I'm going to the Oval Office, and we'll be signing pardons for a lot of people."
