Assad Seeks Russian and Iranian Aid Amid Rebel Advances in Homs

According to PJ Crowley, a former US Assistant Secretary of State, Assad is not in immediate danger but is likely to lose control over some parts of the country. Assad's regime is increasingly desperate for support from Russia and Iran to counter the rebel offensive. Iranian Foreign Minister Sayyed Abbas Araghchi has been in discussions with Iraqi leadership regarding the situation in Syria, while Iran aims to bolster its military support by sending missiles, drones, and increasing the number of its military advisers to aid Assad against the rebels.
