Robert Eggers to Helm Sequel to Jim Henson's 1986 Cult Classic 'Labyrinth' Starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly
Jan 23, 2025, 07:13 PM
Robert Eggers, the director behind the Oscar-nominated film 'Nosferatu,' has officially signed on to write and direct a sequel to Jim Henson's 1986 cult fantasy movie 'Labyrinth' for TriStar Pictures. The sequel, which will continue the narrative rather than being a remake, is being co-written by Eggers and his collaborator Sjón. The project will be produced by Chris and Eleanor Columbus alongside Lisa Henson, with Brian Henson serving as executive producer. This development follows Eggers' recent announcement of another project, 'Werwulf,' set to release in December 2026. The original 'Labyrinth' starred David Bowie as the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as a teenager on a quest to rescue her baby brother.
