Turkish ANKA UAV Hits Target from 15,000 Feet Using 8 km-Range L-UMTAS Missile
Jan 9, 2025, 08:47 AM
Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) has successfully conducted a test involving its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ANKA, which hit a target from an altitude of 15,000 feet using the domestically produced L-UMTAS missile developed by Roketsan. The test highlights the capabilities of Turkey's defense industry and its focus on locally developed technologies. The L-UMTAS missile, a laser-guided long-range anti-tank missile with a range of 8 km, demonstrated precision targeting during the test. This achievement underscores the engineering and technological advancements achieved by Turkish defense firms, with officials emphasizing the collaborative efforts of engineers, technicians, and industry partners. ANKA, which made its inaugural flight in 2010 and entered the Turkish Armed Forces' inventory in 2017, continues to be a key asset for reconnaissance and combat missions, equipped with locally integrated systems such as the TEI-PD170 engine.
