Tribe Launches on Solana with 4% Fees, Reviving SocialFi Amid FriendTech Comparisons

A new social media platform called Tribe has launched on the Solana blockchain, drawing significant attention from the crypto community. Resembling the earlier platform FriendTech, Tribe allows users to create token-gated communities by issuing personal tokens that others can buy and sell. The platform features a 4% transaction fee, lower than FriendTech's 10%, and includes a subscription model. Users can set limits on the number of members in their tribes, and those with the fewest tokens may be removed as membership caps are reached. Tribe has seen a surge in activity as users purchase their own tokens and promote referral links, which grant them 150 tokens per referral. Some users have reported earning substantial amounts in fees, with one mentioning 18 SOL earned overnight. Despite technical issues such as lag and an interface likened to Windows 95, the platform's launch indicates a renewed interest in decentralized SocialFi applications. Tribe is supported by AllianceDAO, further highlighting its potential in the sector.
