US Announces $988 Million Military Aid to Ukraine Including HIMARS Munitions and Drones
Dec 7, 2024, 10:24 PM
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that the Biden administration is providing a new military aid package worth nearly $1 billion to Ukraine. The $988 million package, the 22nd under the administration, includes ammunition for HIMARS rocket systems, unmanned aerial systems, and equipment for repairing tanks and armored vehicles. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated that Ukraine would receive hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of missiles, and hundreds of armored vehicles by mid-January 2025. This latest assistance comes as the administration accelerates efforts to support Kyiv before President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20, 2025. The U.S. has committed more than $62 billion in military aid to Ukraine since Russia's invasion in February 2022.
