Tesla Rolls Out FSD 13.2 with 5x Fewer Interventions and Autonomous Parking
Dec 1, 2024, 12:53 AM
Tesla has begun rolling out its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software version 13.2 to customers as of November 30, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the company's autonomous driving efforts. The latest update introduces substantial improvements, including the ability for vehicles to reverse out of parking spots, autonomously park, and navigate to and from destinations without driver intervention. Users can now initiate drives with a touch of a button, with the vehicle unparking itself, driving to the destination, and parking upon arrival. The FSD v13.2 update features a complete rewrite of the driving network, utilizing 36Hz full-resolution AI4 video inputs and native AI4 neural network architectures. Tesla claims this advancement brings a five- to six-fold improvement in miles between necessary human interventions, though specific data has not been disclosed. The update also includes dynamic road-closure routing and eye-tracking technology, enhancing the vehicle's responsiveness and safety. Tesla AI team members have expressed enthusiasm about the update, with a senior engineer describing it as "one of the biggest rewrites in years." The release of FSD v13.2 is viewed as a major step toward Tesla's goal of achieving full autonomy, bringing the prospect of robotaxis closer to reality. Tesla's Cybercab was previously running FSD v13 during the Robotaxi unveiling on October 10th. Enthusiasts have shared experiences of the software's smoothness and capability, noting that it can back into Supercharger stalls and handle complex driving scenarios with ease.
