Takuya Onishi, 48, Named Third Japanese ISS Commander for Six-Month Mission

Takuya Onishi, a Japanese astronaut, has been selected to serve as the commander of the International Space Station (ISS) during his upcoming mission. Onishi, who is 48 years old, will become the third Japanese astronaut to hold this prestigious position, following Koichi Wakata and Akihiko Hoshide. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) announced that Onishi will assume the role during his approximately six-month stay on the ISS, scheduled to begin after February next year.
