Cubs Acquire All-Star Kyle Tucker from Astros for Paredes, Wesneski, and Cam Smith, Pending Medicals
Dec 13, 2024, 07:45 PM
The Chicago Cubs have acquired star outfielder Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros in a blockbuster trade pending medicals. In exchange, the Astros receive third baseman Isaac Paredes, right-handed pitcher Hayden Wesneski, and third-base prospect Cam Smith. Tucker, a three-time All-Star, has been one of the most productive players in baseball since 2021, posting a 145 wRC+ and 19.1 fWAR during that span. Before suffering a leg injury in June last season, he recorded an outstanding 180 wRC+ and 4.2 fWAR in 339 plate appearances. Over the past four years, Tucker is one of only two players—alongside Shohei Ohtani—to accumulate at least 100 home runs, 80 stolen bases, and an .875 OPS. His acquisition provides the Cubs with the superstar they've been seeking to bolster their lineup.
