China's Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), located 700 meters underground in Guangdong, has commenced the filling of its central detector with ultrapure water at a rate of 100 tonnes per hour. This marks a significant milestone in the construction of the world's largest transparent spherical neutrino detector. The facility aims to detect neutrinos, elusive particles that have been present since the Big Bang, and is considered a major scientific infrastructure project by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
