Elon Musk to Use White House Office Space in New Role at Department of Government Efficiency to Cut Spending Under Trump
Jan 13, 2025, 10:31 PM
Elon Musk is expected to use office space in the White House complex as he takes on a role in the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed at reducing government spending under the incoming Trump administration. The office space will be located in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, adjacent to the White House. Musk, whose companies have significant federal government contracts, has been a key financial supporter of Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, contributing $250 million. His involvement extends to participating in official meetings and at least one foreign call during the transition period. Musk, with a fortune estimated at $437 billion, will co-head DOGE alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, though it remains unclear if Ramaswamy will also have office space in the Eisenhower building. DOGE is currently operating out of SpaceX's offices in Washington, D.C., and aims to reduce the federal budget by 30%. Musk has been residing at Mar-a-Lago, renting a cottage for $2000 per night.
