Trump's Chief of Staff Bars Musk From West Wing, Assigns DOGE to Eisenhower Office

Susie Wiles, Donald Trump's newly appointed chief of staff, has barred Elon Musk from securing an office in the West Wing of the White House, reinforcing her authority within the administration. Musk, who has been appointed chairman of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), will instead have his office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, located across the road from the White House. Wiles has also mandated that DOGE reports must be submitted to her rather than directly to President Trump. Musk's increasing influence, including being referred to as 'First Buddy' and jokingly as 'co-president,' has sparked tensions within Trump's inner circle. Wiles, a veteran Republican operative and the first woman to serve as White House Chief of Staff, has emphasized a no-nonsense approach to managing the administration, stating that individuals seeking to work solo or gain undue prominence will not be tolerated. Trump confirmed the decision, stating, 'No, he’s getting an office for about 20 people that we’re hiring to make sure that these [savings] get implemented.' Wiles, nicknamed the 'ice maiden' by Trump, has made this her first major assertion of control in Trump's second term, highlighting her role as a gatekeeper to the president.
