Oregon Man Gets Life Sentence for Kidnapping Two Women, Holding One in Cinder Block Cell
Jan 19, 2025, 09:30 PM
Negasi Zuberi, a 31-year-old man from Klamath Falls, Oregon, has been sentenced to life in federal prison after being convicted of multiple charges, including kidnapping, sexual assault, and illegal firearm possession. Zuberi was found guilty of abducting two women in separate incidents in 2023. In July 2023, he lured a woman in Seattle under the guise of being an undercover police officer, restrained her with handcuffs and leg irons, and transported her to his home, where he confined her in a cinder block cell. The woman managed to escape by breaking the cell's metal door with her hands until they were bloody and flagging down help. In May 2023, Zuberi kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman outside a bar in Klamath Falls. He was later apprehended in Nevada after fleeing the state. Zuberi was also convicted of attempting to escape custody while awaiting trial. Prosecutors described Zuberi as a 'serial predator' who hunted women. His actions were condemned by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sweet and U.S. Attorney Natalie Wight, who praised the victims' courage in bringing him to justice.
