Jan 18, 2025, 08:57 AM
Two senior judges of Iran's Supreme Court were assassinated in Tehran on Saturday morning at approximately 10:45 am. Judges Mohammad Moghiseh and Ali Razini were shot outside the Palace of Justice near Park Shahr by an assailant who was reportedly an employee of the court. A third judge, identified as Judge Miry, and a bodyguard were injured in the attack. The assailant opened fire with a pistol on the judges and then committed suicide. The judiciary confirmed the deaths of the two judges, who were known for handling cases involving national security and issuing harsh sentences against political dissidents. This was the second assassination attempt on Ali Razini, who previously survived an attack in 1999.
