On December 26, 2024, Israeli airstrikes targeted Sanaa International Airport in Yemen while World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was present. Ghebreyesus reported that he was preparing to board a flight when the strikes occurred, narrowly escaping harm. Preliminary reports indicate that at least three people were killed and several others injured, including a crew member from the UN Humanitarian Air Service.
