Israeli forces have killed two people and injured 31 others in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. The casualties occurred as residents attempted to return to their homes in the border area, where Israeli forces remained past the withdrawal deadline set by a U.S.-mediated ceasefire agreement. The incidents took place in the villages of Houla, Kfar Kila, and Aitaroun. Israel had previously announced its intention to keep troops in the region beyond the stipulated deadline, citing non-compliance with the terms of the ceasefire by the Lebanese state. The ceasefire was intended to end hostilities between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group.
