Russia Launches 6,000+ Drones & Missiles at Ukraine, Overwhelming Air Defenses
Dec 9, 2024, 04:00 AM
Russia has escalated its military operations against Ukraine, launching over 6,000 drones and missiles in the past three months, which is four times more than in the fall of 2023, according to reports from The Wall Street Journal. This surge includes the use of cheap decoy drones and missiles equipped with electronic warfare (EW) capabilities to overwhelm Ukraine's air defenses, which are struggling with a lack of interceptors. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has noted that in just the last week, Russia launched over 500 KAB bombs, more than 400 drones, and approximately 20 missiles. Meanwhile, Ukraine has adapted by producing thousands of drones designed for precision strikes, aiming to counterbalance Russia's artillery dominance with innovative and mass-produced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are now a force in their own right.
