Ohio State holds a commanding 21-7 halftime lead over Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff National Championship game in Atlanta. Quarterback Will Howard delivered a near-flawless first half, completing his first 13 passes to set a CFP title game record. He finished the half 14 of 15 for 144 passing yards, two touchdowns, and added 26 rushing yards. The No. 8-seeded Buckeyes converted all six of their third-down attempts and averaged 7 yards per play. Notre Dame, the No. 7 seed, scored on an opening 18-play, 75-yard drive but gained only 11 yards afterward. In the third quarter, Ohio State extended its lead to 31-15, moving closer to securing the national title.
