No. 25 Memphis defeated West Virginia 42-37 in the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Memphis quarterback Seth Henigan threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns, tying the American Athletic Conference (AAC) record with his 104th career touchdown pass and finishing his career ranked No. 13 all-time in NCAA passing yards. The Tigers surged to a 17-0 lead in the second quarter, highlighted by a 46-yard touchdown run by Greg Desrosiers Jr. West Virginia's quarterback Garrett Greene responded with a 56-yard rushing touchdown and two touchdown passes to Hudson Clement, who had 11 receptions for 166 yards and two scores. In the fourth quarter, West Virginia's CJ Donaldson scored a touchdown to bring the Mountaineers within five points. Despite West Virginia's late efforts, including a wild sequence involving a reviewed interception in the final minute, Memphis secured the victory. The Tigers concluded the season with an 11-2 record and are expected to finish in the final AP Top 25 poll.
