Trump-Supporting Georgia Senator Colton Moore Arrested at Fulton County Jail After Defying House Chamber Ban
Jan 16, 2025, 05:51 PM
Georgia State Senator Colton Moore, a Trump supporter and Vice-Chair of the Georgia Freedom Caucus, was arrested at the state Capitol on Thursday after attempting to attend Governor Brian Kemp's State of the State address. Moore, a Republican from Trenton, was previously banned from entering the House chamber following comments he made about the late House Speaker David Ralston, whom he called 'one of the most corrupt Georgia leaders' during a Senate session last year. Despite the ban, Moore tried to enter the chamber, leading to a confrontation with security personnel. He was pushed to the ground and subsequently arrested by Georgia State Patrol officers, and is currently being held at Fulton County Jail. Moore's arrest occurred after he had publicly stated his intention to defy the ban, asserting that it was unconstitutional and that he had a duty to represent his constituents at the joint session. Moore had also been involved in efforts to impeach Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
