CENTCOM Commander Visits U.S. Bases in Syria, Meets SDF and YPG/PKK

General Michael E. Kurilla, the commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), visited several U.S. bases in Syria on December 10, 2024. During his visit, he met with U.S. military commanders, servicemembers, and members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a key partner in the fight against ISIS. General Kurilla received briefings on the ongoing situation in the region and held discussions with the SDF leadership. Reports also indicate that he met with members of the YPG/PKK during his visit. CENTCOM described the SDF as 'Defeat-ISIS partners.'
