FBI: New Orleans Attacker Acted Alone, Killed 14, Was Inspired by ISIS
Jan 2, 2025, 06:07 PM
The FBI announced that the driver responsible for the deadly New Orleans truck attack on New Year's Day acted alone, calling it an act of terrorism. The attacker, U.S. Army veteran Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar from Texas, drove a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year's revelers on Bourbon Street, killing 14 people and injuring over 30. Officials confirmed that Jabbar was "100% inspired by ISIS" and had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State but had no accomplices. The FBI reversed its earlier position that he likely had co-conspirators. Additionally, the FBI stated that there is "no definitive link" between the New Orleans attack and the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on the same day.
