Israel Closes Ireland Embassy, Opens One in Moldova Amid 'Extreme Anti-Israel Policies'
Dec 15, 2024, 01:27 PM
Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced on December 15, 2024, that Israel will close its embassy in Ireland due to what he described as the Irish government's "extreme anti-Israel policies." The decision follows Ireland's participation in an International Court of Justice (ICJ) case accusing Israel of genocide, which Israel views as crossing "all red lines" in bilateral relations. Sa'ar accused Ireland of engaging in "antisemitic acts and rhetoric" based on delegitimization, demonization, and double standards against the Jewish state. In response, Israel will close its embassy in Dublin and open a new one in Moldova.
