Jan 21, 2025, 05:56 AM
A fire at the wooden-structured Grand Kartal Hotel in Turkey's Kartalkaya Ski Resort has killed at least ten people and injured 32 others, according to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. The blaze was reported at 3:27 a.m., starting in the hotel's restaurant and rapidly engulfing the building. At the time, the hotel in Bolu province was housing 234 guests, many of whom attempted to escape by using bed sheets to lower themselves from windows; some victims died after jumping from the building. Emergency services, including 267 personnel from various agencies, responded to the scene, and the injured have been taken to nearby hospitals. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, with multiple prosecutors and experts assigned, including four chief inspectors appointed by Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç.
