Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump and former Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chair, announced on Saturday that she has withdrawn her name from consideration to replace outgoing U.S. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida. Rubio is expected to vacate his Senate seat to serve as Secretary of State in the incoming Trump administration. In her statement, Lara Trump said, "I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the United States Senate. I remain incredibly passionate about public service and look forward to serving our country again sometime in the future." She also hinted at a "big announcement" coming in January. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will now select Rubio's replacement.
