Judge Orders Trump and Stephanopoulos to Sit for Depositions Next Week in Defamation Suit Over E. Jean Carroll Comments
Dec 13, 2024, 11:57 PM
A federal judge has ordered both President-elect Donald Trump and ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos to sit for up to four-hour depositions next week in relation to Trump's defamation lawsuit against ABC News. The lawsuit stems from Stephanopoulos' on-air comments stating that a jury had found Trump liable for raping E. Jean Carroll, whereas the jury had actually found him liable for sexual abuse, not rape. The depositions, scheduled for the week before Christmas, were ordered by Judge Lisette M. Reid, who noted that the court has already granted a lengthy discovery period.
