Dec 12, 2024, 08:31 PM
ParkMobile, a mobile parking payment app, has agreed to a $32.8 million settlement following a data breach in 2021 that compromised the personal information of approximately 21 million users. The breach, which occurred in 2021, exposed users to potential fraud and identity theft, leading to a class-action lawsuit filed in Georgia. ParkMobile did not admit wrongdoing in agreeing to the settlement. Eligible users, who received a notification of the data breach, can claim a portion of the settlement by submitting a claim form by March 5, 2025. If no action is taken, affected users will receive a $1 credit in the ParkMobile app. At the time of the lawsuit, ParkMobile was available in 42 states and over 550 cities.
