Iranian President Denies Plot to Assassinate Trump During U.S. Election Campaign, Amid U.S. Justice Department Allegations
Jan 14, 2025, 11:45 PM
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has denied allegations of plotting to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump during the U.S. election campaign, asserting that Iran has never attempted nor plans to assassinate anyone. In an exclusive interview with NBC News in Tehran, conducted by Lester Holt, Pezeshkian dismissed claims by the U.S. Justice Department, which in November charged an Iranian national with an alleged murder-for-hire plot against Trump. Pezeshkian suggested that such allegations are part of a scheme by Israel and other countries to promote 'Iranophobia.' He emphasized that Iran has never plotted against Trump and will not do so in the future.
