President Donald Trump has said he is pushing Jordan and Egypt to accept more Palestinian refugees from the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas. Speaking with reporters, Trump revealed that he has discussed the possibility of transferring Gazans to neighboring countries with Jordan's King Abdullah II earlier today and plans to speak with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday. The president floated the idea of relocating Palestinians outside Gaza, suggesting that moving out enough of the population could 'just clean out' the war-torn area to create a virtual clean slate. He noted that the plan could be temporary or long term. Trump emphasized that the Gaza Strip is in 'a real mess' and expressed his desire for Arab nations to increase the number of refugees they accept to facilitate rebuilding efforts, saying, 'I’d rather get involved with some of the Arab nations and build housing.'
