Man Fatally Mauled by His Own XL Bullies in San Diego Park; Dogs Euthanized
Dec 15, 2024, 05:19 PM
A man was fatally attacked by his three XL bullies at Mesa Viking Neighborhood Park in Mira Mesa, San Diego. The incident occurred around noon on Friday when the dogs, known for their size and strength, attacked their owner at a children's playground. Witnesses reported that the man was being mauled when another person attempted to intervene and was also injured. Despite efforts by bystanders to stop the attack using shovels and possibly a golf club, the dogs continued until police arrived and used a Taser to break up the attack. The victim was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries. The second victim, who tried to help, sustained serious bite injuries and was recovering. All three dogs were subsequently euthanized on Saturday, following a decision by their second owner. The San Diego Humane Society, which contracts with the city for animal control, confirmed the euthanization and stated that the dogs were placed under mandatory bite quarantine protocols. The incident has prompted a thorough investigation by both the Humane Society and law enforcement partners. Video footage was recovered showing the owner walking the three dogs toward the park prior to the attack.
