Florida Man Pardoned for Jan. 6 Riot Re-Arrested on Gun Charge
Jan 22, 2025, 07:00 PM
Daniel Ball, a 39-year-old Florida man involved in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, was pardoned by President Trump, leading to the formal dismissal of his case on Tuesday. However, while still in custody at the D.C. Jail, he was re-arrested on Wednesday on a pending federal gun charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Ball had been accused of assaulting police officers by throwing an explosive device into a tunnel filled with law enforcement during the Capitol riot. His arrest marks the first instance of a pardoned January 6 defendant facing additional legal trouble after the sweeping clemency granted to those who rioted at the Capitol.
