Georgia Senator Colton Moore Arrested on Speaker's Orders After House Entry Attempt
Jan 16, 2025, 05:31 PM
Georgia State Senator Colton Moore, Vice-Chair of the Georgia Freedom Caucus, was arrested on Thursday after attempting to enter the Georgia House chamber during Governor Brian Kemp's State of the State address. Moore, a pro-Trump legislator who previously led efforts against District Attorney Fani Willis, was blocked from entering the chamber due to a ban imposed by House Speaker Jon Burns. The ban stemmed from comments Moore made about the late House Speaker David Ralston, whom Moore had criticized as 'corrupt.' Moore had been expelled from the Senate GOP Caucus and was prohibited from attending the joint session. During the arrest, Moore was reportedly pushed to the ground by a staffer and taken into custody by the Georgia State Patrol. He is currently being held at the Fulton County Jail.
