Jewish Voice for Peace Agrees to Pay $677,634 Over $338,817 COVID Relief Loan Fraud Allegations
Jan 15, 2025, 03:19 PM
The activist group Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) has agreed to pay $677,634 to settle allegations of defrauding U.S. taxpayers through a COVID-19 relief loan application. U.S. prosecutors accused JVP of falsely claiming it was not primarily engaged in lobbying and political activities when it applied for a loan under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). The organization received a second-draw loan of $338,817 and subsequently applied for forgiveness of the entire amount. The settlement highlights concerns regarding compliance with the provisions of the CARES Act, which restrict eligibility for such loans to entities not primarily focused on political activities.
