Russia's New Year's Attack on Kyiv Kills Two, Injures Seven Amid 111-Drone Barrage

Russia launched a massive drone attack on Kyiv in the early hours of January 1, 2025, killing at least two people and injuring at least seven others, including two pregnant women, according to Ukrainian officials. Over 100 drones, reportedly 111, were used in the attack, which damaged buildings in two districts of the capital. A residential building in the Pecherskyi district was partially destroyed when drone debris fell on it, causing a fire. Rescue efforts are ongoing as authorities continue to assess the damage.
