China Sanctions 13 U.S. Military Firms and 6 Executives Over $385M Taiwan Arms Deal

China has imposed sanctions on 13 U.S. military firms and six executives in response to recent arms sales to Taiwan by the U.S. The sanctions, effective from December 5, 2024, target companies such as Teledyne, BRINC Drones, and Kratos, along with their senior executives. These measures include asset freezes and restrictions on transactions, following a $385 million deal to supply F-16 parts and radars to Taiwan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry cited these sales as a severe violation of the one-China principle, interference in China's internal affairs, and a threat to its sovereignty. China has also announced a ban on exports of high-tech materials like gallium, germanium, and antimony, which have potential military applications, to the U.S. This move is seen as a countermeasure to the U.S. support for Taiwan's independence through military buildup.
