Israeli Airstrike Kills Hamas Commander in Tulkarm as West Bank Operations Expand
Jan 27, 2025, 11:31 AM
Israeli forces expanded their military operations in the occupied West Bank, conducting a drone airstrike on a vehicle in the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm on January 27, killing two Palestinians, including Iyhab Abu Atiyeh, the commander of Hamas's military wing in Tulkarm, and Ramez Al-Dumeiri. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the strike, stating it was a joint operation with the Shin Bet targeting armed militants, despite a ceasefire agreement. Following the airstrike, Israeli ground forces stormed Tulkarm and detained at least one individual. This escalation marks the seventh consecutive day of military operations, which have resulted in at least 16 Palestinian deaths and the displacement of approximately 15,000 residents from Jenin. Additional military reinforcements have been deployed to Jenin and Tulkarm amid the expanded campaign.
