Venezuela Orders Netherlands, France, Italy to Reduce Diplomatic Staff to Three Within 48 Hours Over Maduro's Third Term
Jan 14, 2025, 05:08 PM
Venezuela has ordered the Netherlands, France, and Italy to reduce their diplomatic presence in the country to three diplomats per embassy within 48 hours. The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry cited 'hostile behavior' and support for 'extremist groups' as the reasons for this action. Additionally, diplomats from these countries are required to obtain written permission from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry to travel more than 40 kilometers from Plaza Bolívar in Caracas. This decision comes in response to the criticism from these nations regarding the inauguration of President Nicolás Maduro for his third term, which they consider to be undemocratic.
