This subcommittee, which will operate under the House Judiciary Committee chaired by Representative Jim Jordan, aims to uncover what Johnson describes as the 'full truth' about the incident. The panel will be chaired by Representative Barry Loudermilk of Georgia, who previously led a similar investigation. The initiative follows President Donald Trump's decision to pardon nearly all defendants involved in the January 6 events, and comes in the wake of criticism from Republicans regarding the previous January 6 Select Committee's work, which they allege was politically motivated and peddled false narratives.
