Dr. Haim had been prosecuted under the Biden administration for alleged violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) after disclosing information that revealed the hospital's continued involvement in surgeries, including double mastectomies, on children as young as 11. The case, which had lasted a year and a half, was dismissed with prejudice following calls from public figures, including Senator Josh Hawley, who urged the DOJ to end what they described as a politically motivated prosecution. Dr. Haim had provided evidence of the hospital's activities to journalist Christopher Rufo, highlighting that hundreds of staff were aware of the clandestine operations.
