ADL Survey: 2.2 Billion Adults Worldwide Hold Antisemitic Beliefs, Highest Level Recorded
Jan 14, 2025, 04:29 PM
A recent survey conducted by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has revealed that nearly half of the world's adult population, approximately 46% or 2.2 billion people, holds antisemitic beliefs. This figure represents a doubling of the number of people with such attitudes over the past decade and marks the highest level recorded since the ADL began tracking these trends in 2014. The survey, which included over 58,000 adults from 103 countries, also highlighted a significant generational divide, with 50% of those under 35 years old expressing antisemitic views compared to 37% of those over 50. Additionally, the survey found that 20% of respondents worldwide are unaware of the Holocaust, and only 48% recognize its historical accuracy, a figure that drops to 39% among younger adults aged 18 to 34. The ADL's CEO, Jonathan Greenblatt, described antisemitism as a 'global emergency,' particularly following the events of the Oct. 7 massacre, and called for new government interventions, increased education, and enhanced security measures to combat this rising tide of hate.
