Turkey's MIT Neutralizes PKK's Islam Dotkanlou and Bodyguard in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq
Jan 15, 2025, 07:50 AM
Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has conducted a targeted operation in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, resulting in the neutralization of Islam Dotkanlou, a senior figure in the PKK's so-called Iranian branch, and his bodyguard Akam Sahe. Dotkanlou, also known by the codename 'Amed Serhed,' was identified as one of the founders of the Eastern Kurdistan Defense Units (YRK) and was the head of the PKK's Simko Serhildan Command Academy. He had previously engaged in numerous armed attacks against Turkish security forces in Diyarbakir and Bitlis provinces before fleeing to Iraq. His bodyguard, known as 'Sivan Ciya,' had been active in Iran and Hakkari province. The operation was carried out after MIT agents confirmed their location through intelligence work in the Penjwen region of Sulaymaniyah.
