Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump, has received preliminary approval from the Albanian government for a $1.4 billion luxury resort project on the uninhabited island of Sazan, off the country's southern coast. The project, backed by Kushner's Saudi-funded Affinity Partners and executed through Atlantic Incubation Partners, has been granted strategic investor status, which will allow for accelerated procedures and other benefits. The resort is planned to be an eco-resort community, converting a former military base into a destination for hospitality and wellness, and is expected to create 1,400 jobs. The Albanian government has committed to working with U.S. partners to address any legal or environmental concerns, including the removal of possible buried munitions from the site. This development comes as part of a broader investment strategy by Kushner's firm in the Balkans, which also includes plans in Serbia, with the project valued at 1.4 billion euros.
