FMF's Juan Carlos Rodríguez Resigns Over Investment Fund; Mikel Arriola Named Interim
Dec 13, 2024, 07:23 PM
Juan Carlos Rodríguez, known as 'La Bomba', has resigned as the Comisionado of the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) during the Asamblea de Dueños (Owners' Assembly) meeting, after only 19 months in the position. His resignation was reportedly triggered by obstacles in getting the proposed investment fund for Liga MX approved by the team owners. Rodríguez left the meeting after presenting his resignation, which was subsequently accepted by the owners. Mikel Arriola, the president of Liga MX, will assume the position of interim Comisionado of the FMF and is expected to form a committee of ten teams in January to continue negotiations on the investment fund. The FMF stated that Rodríguez resigned due to personal reasons. The meeting concluded without comments from the team owners or presidents.
