Passenger Attempts to Hijack Volaris Flight 3041; Plane Diverted Safely to Guadalajara
Dec 8, 2024, 09:37 PM
On Sunday morning, a passenger on Volaris Flight 3041 attempted to forcibly divert the Airbus A320 from its scheduled route from El Bajío to Tijuana, aiming to redirect it to the United States. The passenger, identified as 31-year-old Mario 'N' from Pénjamo, Guanajuato, claimed he could not land in Tijuana due to a threat he had received. Traveling with his wife and two children, he tried to take control of the aircraft but was successfully restrained by the crew following established security protocols. The flight was diverted to Guadalajara, where it landed safely. The National Guard and the Federal Civil Aviation Agency responded to the incident at Guadalajara Airport, and the passenger was handed over to authorities.
