Sleeping Woman Set on Fire on NYC Subway; Guatemalan Migrant Arrested
Dec 22, 2024, 11:27 PM
A woman was set on fire and killed while sleeping on a New York City subway train early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on an F train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station in Brooklyn. The woman, who was homeless and found with liquor bottles around her, was reportedly sleeping when a man threw a lit match on her, causing her to become engulfed in flames. The suspect, a 25-year-old migrant from Guatemala, allegedly watched from a nearby bench as she burned to death. Police apprehended the suspect later in the day at the same station, reportedly finding a lighter in his pocket. The NYPD is investigating the incident as a homicide.
