U.S. Airstrikes Hit Iran-Backed Militias in Deir Ezzor and Albukamal Desert

U.S. airstrikes have reportedly targeted positions of Iran-backed militias in eastern Syria's Deir Ezzor province and the Albukamal desert near the Syrian-Iraqi border. The strikes, believed to involve both air raids and artillery, focused on key locations, including the towns of Al-Mayadin, Marat, Khasham, and Mazloum. The attacks targeted sites associated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other militias. Multiple strikes were reported, with at least four airstrikes in Al-Mayadin alone, accompanied by aerial machine-gun fire. The operations are part of ongoing efforts by the U.S.-led coalition to counter Iranian influence in the region.
