Jan 2, 2025, 06:14 PM
On Thursday, Argentina filed a formal complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Venezuela over the detention and alleged forced disappearance of Argentine gendarme Nahuel Gallo. The complaint, announced by the Argentine Foreign Ministry, accuses the Venezuelan regime of Nicolás Maduro of arbitrarily detaining Gallo on December 8 as he entered the country to visit his family. Gallo was detained and accused of terrorism by the Venezuelan prosecutor's office. The complaint also names Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab for his involvement in the case. The government of President Javier Milei considers Gallo's detention a violation of human rights and seeks international intervention.
