Since mid-November, large, mysterious drones have been reported flying over parts of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, alarming residents and lawmakers. The drones, about six feet in diameter, sometimes flying with lights off and not believed to be flown by hobbyists, have been sighted near sensitive locations such as military installations like Picatinny Arsenal, power lines, and Donald Trump's golf course in Bedminster. The drones appear to avoid detection by traditional methods such as helicopter and radio, operating on frequencies that cannot be detected, according to New Jersey State Police and Homeland Security. Homeland Security officials have met with lawmakers to discuss the issue but have not provided a definitive explanation, leading to calls for increased transparency. Representative Jeff Van Drew suggested that an 'Iranian mothership' could be behind the drone sightings, though the Pentagon has dismissed this claim, with White House spokesman John Kirby stating there is no evidence of foreign involvement. Lawmakers are demanding action from federal authorities, with some calling for the drones to be shot down.
