Meta to Cut 5% of Staff, Targeting 3,600 Low Performers per Zuckerberg Memo
Jan 14, 2025, 04:54 PM
Meta Platforms Inc. plans to cut about 5% of its lowest-performing employees, approximately 3,600 staff, according to an internal memo from CEO Mark Zuckerberg sent on Tuesday. In the memo, Zuckerberg stated, "I've decided to raise the bar on performance management and move out low-performers faster." The company aims to reach 10% attrition by the end of the performance cycle, including the 5% non-regrettable attrition from 2024. The cuts are scheduled for February 10 and are part of Meta's efforts to streamline operations. This is the third round of major layoffs at Meta in the past three years, following last fall's 11,000 job cuts.
